VERNON’S NEW VILLAGE MAKING PROGRESS
September 02, 2004
Construction on 100-Home Appalachian Project Underway at Mountain Creek
VERNON, N.J. – If you’re traveling down Route 94 in Vernon, New Jersey, you can’t help but notice the construction that has been taking place at Mountain Creek. It’s all part of the $750 million Mountain Creek all-season resort project that began in 1998. Mountain Creek, which is owned by Intrawest Corporation, the leading developer and operator of village-centered resorts across North America whose success stories include Whistler Blackcomb in British Columbia, Mont Tremblant in Quebec, Stratton in Vermont, Sandestin in Florida and Mammoth in California, reports that construction of “The Village” is well on its way to becoming a reality.
Intrawest, known for developing high-end, all-season resorts throughout North America, is now working its magic at Mountain Creek erecting the Appalachian, the cornerstone and first residential-building in the much anticipated Village at Mountain Creek. Upon its completion, which is anticipated for spring 2005, the Appalachian will be at the heart of a future pedestrian plaza. Designed in an Adirondack Grand Hotel motif, the Appalachian will feature 100 resort homes comprised of one and two-bedroom configurations and will come exquisitely furnished and equipped with all the touches of home. It will also offer ski-in, ski-out access, easy underground parking and will be close to all that Mountain Creek has to offer.
“The construction of the Appalachian is truly a step forward to bringing this premier resort to life,” said Jay Wilmoth, Director of Development at Mountain Creek. “We are excited to offer the community and the state of New Jersey a world-class village and resort right in their own backyard and the jobs that this new construction provides.”
Officials at Mountain Creek note that from the beginning, Mountain Creek and Sweetwater Construction Corporation of Monroe Township, who is handling construction of the Appalachian, have made great efforts to keep the work on the Village local. The construction effort has been fairly distributed between the different construction outlets available in New Jersey within the guidelines established by the state. Intrawest has gone to great lengths to keep the bidding process open to everyone and create an even balance of support working on the project.
Currently, the structure is still in the early stages of construction and the crews are laying the foundations and the footings of the building. There after, work will begin on the ironwork, super structure, exterior and then finish with the interiors.
Situated in the majestic Appalachians, less than 50 miles from New York City, Mountain Creek is a nearby escape for the entire tri-state region boasting New Jersey’s largest waterpark that is expertly outfitted with 26 rides, slides and attractions. Within a two-hour drive from anywhere in the metro area, Mountain Creek offers visitors resort accommodations and top-of-the-line attractions close to home.
