EXPEDITION STATION: A STUNNING SUCCESS SNOWSHOE MOUNTAIN RESORT’S PREFERRED CLIENTS PURCHASE 100% OF THE RESORT’S NEWEST LODGING PROPERTY
March 07, 2005

Snowshoe, WV -- This past weekend’s selection event of Expedition Station at Snowshoe Mountain Resort, the latest development project of Intrawest Corporation’s Village at Snowshoe was an overwhelming success, with all 100 mountaintop units sold in less than 4 hours. The sales occurred while the resort received 15 inches of snow Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Families from throughout the region attended the invitation-only event at the resort’s Allegheny Springs Conference Center to be the first to purchase the 100 mountain homes in just four hours.  This was one of the largest resort real estate sales in West Virginia history.

“We didn’t launch a building today, we launched the continuation of an on-going multi-million project,” said Tom Wallington, Regional Vice President of Intrawest Placemaking’s Southeast Region. “Although $180 million has been poured into the improvement of resort facilities since Intrawest purchased the resort in 1995, this building is the true signal that the renaissance continues.”  The launch participants were part of Intrawest’s extensive database of preferred clients who have established a continuing relationship with Snowshoe Mountain Resort.

When completed, the Village at Snowshoe will have over 700 mountaintop homes and 100,000 square feet of retail space, valued at over $200 million.  The first phase of the village, Rimfire Lodge, was completed in 1999.

“Having lived all my life near here, I have always been excited about Snowshoe Mountain’s continued expansion,” said Jason Riley of Moorefield, West Virginia. “I am eager to see the complex’s finished product and being part of Intrawest’s plans for the resort.”  Construction on Expedition Station is scheduled to begin in April with completion of the multi-million project scheduled for the summer of 2006. The project will also house a new rental and retail location for guests visiting the resort.

“The Village of Snowshoe has given the Pocahontas County Resort a permanent year-round attraction that has drawn people from the entire mid-Atlantic and Southeast,” said Bruce Pittet, Vice President and General Manager of Snowshoe.  The resort is located within a day’s drive of 75 million people in the two regions.  While the theme of the village is pure West Virginia, in what is called “Forever Wild”, the experience is characteristic of the best mountain villages in North America.

Following the success of the Expedition Station, the Village at Snowshoe’s, Soaring Eagle Lodge, has already been released and a Selection Event is planned for Spring 2005. Soaring Eagle Lodge represents the rebirth of the Top of the World neighborhood at Snowshoe Mountain.
