Soaring Eagle Takes off at Snowshoe Mountain
June 20, 2005

Snowshoe, WV – The selection event of Soaring Eagle at Snowshoe Mountain, the latest lodging project at the largest four-season resort in West Virginia, began aggressively with 74% of the homes in phase one sold on Saturday, June 18.  The 50 homes represented $24 million in real estate sales, making it the largest real estate sales event in the state’s history.  This is the first lodging partnership between a third-party developer and Intrawest Corporation’s Snowshoe Mountain Resort.

Mountain top home buyers from throughout the region, make purchases in the lodge that represents the rebirth of the Top of the World neighborhood at Snowshoe Mountain.  “We have been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm everyone has had with the project,” says David Prey, Soaring Eagle’s project coordinator, who is working with resort developers on the two-phase project.  “It was great to see buyers from Pennsylvania to Florida wanting to become part of the best resort in the region”.

Phase one of Soaring Eagle will be ready for guests for the 2006/07 season as construction has already begun.  When completed, Soaring Eagle will feature 140 units, along with retail and restaurant facilities.  The release of phase two of Soaring Eagle will be announced this summer.

To enhance the expansion of the highest point of the resort, it has also been announced that a high-speed quad lift will be constructed for use beginning the 2006/07 season, replacing the current triple chair lift, which services the Widowmaker area.   The capital project is also taking place through a partnership between Prey’s group and Snowshoe Mountain.  “The new lift will enhance the experience for skiers and snowboarders utilizing the Top of the World area”, says Bill Rock, Snowshoe Mountain’s Vice President and General Manager.
