Seahaven Development, Inc. announces Sanctuary Beach
May 26, 2005
Bennett family creates a legacy for Panama City Beach community
Panama City Beach, Fla. – Seahaven Development, Inc. announces Sanctuary Beach, an exclusive 43-acre resort-style residential community being developed in Panama City Beach that will offer a private beachfront retreat along St. Andrews Bay. Inspired by the nature that has been preserved throughout the property for over a century, Sanctuary Beach will feature luxury beachfront condominiums, single-family home sites, and custom homes with an elite list of world-class amenities.
Owned and operated by the Bennett family, fourth-generation Panama City Beach residents, Sanctuary Beach is being developed by Seahaven Development Inc., a respected development company that has been creating communities along the Emerald Coast for over a decade. Seahaven Development, Inc. understands the importance of developing communities that respect the natural beauty and history of the land.
“We partnered with Playground Destination Properties Inc. to manage the sales and marketing efforts for this one-of-a-kind residential and vacation home community. As life-long residents, we have a deep respect for Panama City Beach, and are striving to create a legacy for future families to enjoy,” said Neel Bennett, president of Seahaven Development, Inc. “Playground’s success with The Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Destin and Wild Heron in Panama City Beach has shown a remarkable track record for implementation of effective sales and marketing programs.”
The first phase of beachfront luxury condominiums in Sanctuary Beach is currently under development and will be ready for purchase in summer 2005. The condominiums have been custom designed for Sanctuary Beach and promise to offer a premiere primary home or second home experience in a secluded beach setting.
Overlooking the tranquil Shell Island with 1400 ft. of shoreline, Sanctuary Beach’s planned amenities include a gated entry, private beach, boat dock, a 6,000 sq. ft. zero edge beachfront pool with a secluded bungalow pool, kids treehouse, fitness center with steam rooms and saunas, massage therapy rooms, canoe launch, protected oak and magnolia groves, wetland boardwalks, nature trails, waterfront firepit, swaying hammocks, a grand salon with billiards and game room, and a community media room.
Sanctuary Beach has acquired a respected group of award-winning architects and planners, including Ai Group, PBS& J, J. Michael Hunnicutt Architects, Dungan-Nequette Architects, Rick Lowe Architect, Lovelace Interiors and McNeil/Carroll Engineering. The architecture of Sanctuary Beach will be reminiscent of European villages with coastal influences featuring warm colors and natural materials blending seamlessly into the shoreline of hundred-year-old oaks, magnolias and hickories. “Although a development order approved by the county granted approval for 500 homes, we decided to develop significantly less to ensure the quality and to maintain the private, secluded feel of the community. To do anything other than this would not be respectful of the land,” said Bennett.
“Sanctuary Beach will be one of the most coveted addresses in Panama City Beach. It is truly a one-of-a-kind residential retreat in our area,” said Lundy Crabb, Regional Director, Playground Destination Properties Inc. “The Sanctuary Beach homeowner has the ability to live anywhere they choose. Over the past few years, we’ve seen the lucrative local rental property market leave baby-boomers and retirees needing to retreat to a truly remarkable vacation or primary home in the area that offers more privacy. To be able to enjoy a place like Sanctuary Beach, left untouched for generations is truly an opportunity to discover a jewel right in the heart of Panama City Beach,” said Crabb.
A rare treasure along St. Andrews Bay, Sanctuary Beach was originally owned by Major Frank Woods, a well-known sailor and one of the founders of the St. Andrews Bay Yacht Club. The Laird family purchased the land in the 1940s and cherished the property as a family vacation beach retreat for over 60 years. Preserved and relatively untouched, the Bennett family purchased Sanctuary Beach two years ago with the vision of creating a one-of-a-kind residential retreat.
One of the original existing retreat homes has been renovated to house the Sanctuary Beach Discovery Center, which is open daily to showcase the property and preview upcoming offerings. To discover Sanctuary Beach, please call 800-636-3140 or 850-636-3140 or visit online at www.sanctuary-beach.com.
