Honua Kai rides wave of sales success with release of second tower, Konea
December 04, 2006
Luxury Home Seekers Choose Maui’s Ka’anapali Beach as the Ultimate Place to Own
Ka’anapali Beach, Maui, Hawaii: The Maui real estate community was abuzz at the Honua Kai Discovery Center this weekend during a VIP sales event for the second and final whole-ownership condominium tower at Honua Kai—on famed Ka’anapali Beach.
Known as Konea, Honua Kai’s second condominium tower was released for sale on December 2nd. Suites purchased included a mix of studio, one, two and three bedrooms ranging in price from the mid $600,000’s to $5.6 million. This achievement follows the tremendous sell-out success of the first condominium tower Hokulani last December, which sold all 318 condominiums in 8-hours.
“This is a story of strength in the Hawaii real estate market paired with discerning buyer enthusiasm for prime beachfront property on Ka’anapali Beach” says Todd Patrick, sales director for Playground Destination Properties Inc, the licensed broker handling the sales and marketing campaign for Honua Kai . “After a series of high-profile preview events -- in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle and Vancouver – we have witnessed buyer and realtor excitement building through our priority reservation program. It was a great first day for Konea, the final condominium tower offering at Honua Kai. Our success today of over $200 Million in sales definitely exceeded our expectations. With our new display suite just completed and the busy winter selling season upon us, we are excited to showcase the remaining condominiums in this final tower to the many visitors to Maui over the coming months”.
194 condominiums in the Konea tower were selected on Saturday. Buyers capitalized on the opportunity to become the first owners of Konea, which signifies health and wellness in Hawaiian. Over the past 12 months, total sales at Honua Kai have exceeded $600 Million.
A select number of condominiums, with commanding ocean and mountain views, are still available. This news comes on the heels of Donald Trump’s recent Oahu condominium sell-out. The Honua Kai release, combined with the unrelated Trump project, together have amounted to more than $1.2-billion in real estate sold in past year alone. Luxury Condominium-Hotel developments, located in irreplaceable locations, continue to be met with high demand in the Hawaiian Islands.
“We want to thank buyers and realtors -- along with Maui County, the Ka’anapali North Beach Advisory Group and the Maui Planning Commission -- for their important roles in helping create a premier family resort community on Maui’s Ka’anapali Beach,” says Paul Woodward, Senior Vice President at Intrawest Placemaking.
Honua Kai’s 38-acre resort features stunning landscape design, expansive shared spaces, three distinct pool experiences, a boutique spa, an optional rental program and the recently announced Duke’s Maui restaurant. The resort offers the first whole-ownership, luxury condominiums and town homes to be built on Ka’anapali Beach in over twenty years.
Each studio, one, two and three bedroom condominium features exquisite interior appointments such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and frameless glass shower enclosures. The open floorplans lead to spacious lanais that take advantage of the gentle, tropical climate while providing incredible ocean and mountain vistas. With construction of the first tower currently underway, Konea construction is anticipated to start summer 2007 with completion estimated for late 2009. Upon completion, the multi-phased development will feature 700 luxury residential condominium and town home units.
The future of Honua Kai also includes a luxury town home community in the idyllic Na Hale Luana neighbourhood. Meaning ‘pleasant surroundings’, Na Hale Luana will embrace the tranquil beauty, climate and geographic wonders of the Islands, with contemporary Hawaiian architecture complementing the natural setting. Private entries, outdoor barbeque kitchens and living spaces that open to large lanais create the sense of oasis for families claiming their own corner of paradise. Town home sales are anticipated to commence in spring 2007.
